Making Time

Early this morning in my “quiet time” I realized that it really was quiet. At this season of my life I live by myself with my two cats who enjoy napping on my lap as I spend time with the Lord.
The first name on my Breakthrough Prayer List is Mary, an Intercessor. I wonder what life is like for her. Of course the important thing is God knows. My job is to lift her up to the Lord and surround her with prayer each day for 21 days. I will not forget her at the end of my prayer period either. Many of us intercessors keep a Prayer Journal and a part of my prayer time is leafing back through the pages lifting up those who are no longer on my daily list. That is why getting those “Answers to Prayer” are so important - being able to go back and see how God has solved a problem, often in a wonderful way we never could have imagined.
I know I would not be where I am today without the prayers of others, many of them at Breakthrough. At least twenty years ago my late husband, Charles, read about Breakthrough in Charisma magazine. He was a pastor at that time. The church office was in the parsonage and that’s where you could find him most every morning, listening to praise music and talking with his Heavenly Father.
Very soon he asked me to join him in this ministry. My response, like many others, was “I just don’t have time.” Working full time, raising five children, being a preacher’s wife; the list went on and on.  It just didn’t seem possible to add one more chore to it. Then one wonderful day the thought came into my heart - prayer wasn’t a chore, it was a privilege. A chance to spend one on one time with the Creator of the Universe!  And also it wasn’t just me praying for others, I too was surrounded by that great cloud of witnesses! No, I didn’t suddenly have an hour to spend with the Lord; few of us do. But God is everywhere we are. He dwells in our praises.
I thank God each and everyday for our Breakthrough intercessors and supporters.  Please continue to lift us up in your prayers and remember us in your financial giving.

Your sister in Christ,
Claudette Ammons

How to get to heaven

Do you know what it means to be a Christian?

The Bible says:

1. God created you to have a relationship with Him. So God created man in His own image, in the image of God created He him. (Genesis 1:27)

2. But because of sin, you have infinitely offended God. For all have sinned and fall short of God’s glorious standard. (Romans 3:23)

3. This offense of sin carries with it a present separation and, if not dealt with, the ultimate separation of death. But your iniquities have separated you from your God. (Isaiah 59:2) For the wages of sin is death. (Romans 6:23)

4. But God, in His great love for you, took the initiative to restore your relationship with him. But God demonstrated His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8)

5. Jesus, God’s Son, removed the offense of your sin and made reconciliation possible. For He (God) made Him (Jesus) who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. (2 Corinthians 5:21)

6. OUR PART is to accept God’s gracious gift of forgiveness by embracing His Son Jesus Christ, by faith. God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. (1 John 5:11-12)

One way to express your faith and your trust in Jesus is with a prayer like this:

Dear God, I want to be in a right relationship with You. I understand that I have offended You by my sin. God, please forgive me. Forgive me through Your Son, Jesus. I accept His sacrifice for me. I trust Him right now as my personal Savior from sin. God, thank you for taking the initiative to save me. In the name of Jesus, Amen.
