Message from Ruth

We had known each other a while… a couple years. Business colleagues meeting every few months.  And, despite our different ages, educations, and backgrounds, we were friends.
There was a difference in our faith too. Ruth explained she was ‘spiritual, but not religious.’  I confided that I had an interactive and ongoing relationship with the living God in heaven, the King of kings, and Lord of lords. Both living and loving.  Based on His grace… definitely not because of my own merit.
We had an appointment scheduled for Thursday, late morning. But early that morning, Ruth called to tell me she was not feeling well. At least a cold. Probably early stages of the flu. She told me she had already postponed the rest of her day, but that she could probably muster up enough energy to honor our appointment if I preferred. Or we could reschedule if I didn’t want to risk being exposed to whatever she had.
My intellect was leery. The Voice in my heart said, "Go see your friend. I will protect you."
He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him, who walk uprightly.
I went by her place. After finishing our business, I gave my friend the usual gentle little hug.  Oh, the back of her neck was HOT! Burning! She was sick!
Before releasing the gentle hug, I spoke softly into her ear:
God, please make Ruth feel better.
The prayer of the upright is His delight.
I suggested she lay low, drink fluids, stay warm, and take a nap. The usual. And I walked out the door to continue my day.
Upon return to my office later that afternoon, I had the following message on my machine:
Hello?  Are you there?  This is Ruth.  Anyway, I just wanted to call and tell you thank you – you healed me.  After you left, I took a nap and when I woke up, I felt like a new person!
Anyway, thanks for the thoughts and prayers because they worked!  I just wanted to call and tell you that.
Keep the faith because now I’ve got it!
Who among all these does not know that the hand of the Lord has done this, in whose hand is the life of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind?

How to get to heaven

Do you know what it means to be a Christian?

The Bible says:

1. God created you to have a relationship with Him. So God created man in His own image, in the image of God created He him. (Genesis 1:27)

2. But because of sin, you have infinitely offended God. For all have sinned and fall short of God’s glorious standard. (Romans 3:23)

3. This offense of sin carries with it a present separation and, if not dealt with, the ultimate separation of death. But your iniquities have separated you from your God. (Isaiah 59:2) For the wages of sin is death. (Romans 6:23)

4. But God, in His great love for you, took the initiative to restore your relationship with him. But God demonstrated His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8)

5. Jesus, God’s Son, removed the offense of your sin and made reconciliation possible. For He (God) made Him (Jesus) who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. (2 Corinthians 5:21)

6. OUR PART is to accept God’s gracious gift of forgiveness by embracing His Son Jesus Christ, by faith. God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. (1 John 5:11-12)

One way to express your faith and your trust in Jesus is with a prayer like this:

Dear God, I want to be in a right relationship with You. I understand that I have offended You by my sin. God, please forgive me. Forgive me through Your Son, Jesus. I accept His sacrifice for me. I trust Him right now as my personal Savior from sin. God, thank you for taking the initiative to save me. In the name of Jesus, Amen.
